Magazine Design Pt 3

Published by realdesign24 at 10:24 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Finally, I finished my project for the movie magazine called Splice. It was a difficult process but I learned a lot from this experience. At first, I didn’t know what kind of magazine to design because I am interested in many different things such as, movies, art, people, food, and music??. However, I decided to do a magazine on somthing that I am passionate about, which is movies.

Another problem I had was finding a suitable picture for my magazine. Since it was a movie magazine, I needed a celebrity on my cover. This made things harder because to find a picture of a celebrity required either to:

  • Scan in a picture of a celebrity from a magazine, poster, or any other print material. But the problem there was that I didn’t want it to look like Maxim or Playboy.Or;
  • Find the picture on the web. The issue here was that web pictures are at 72 dpi (low resolution) and I needed a 300 or more dpi photo. Also, web pictures are usually small in size. For example, a picture could be 2×4 inches but I needed the photo to exceed 8.5×11 inches (standard letter size).

Thankfully, I had help from some good people in finding the picture for my cover. I think the work I created looks like a professional magazine that you can find wherever magazines are sold.
