Wall Crack Tutorials

Published by realdesign24 under Uncategorized Edit This

I recently designed a poster that involved having a lot of cracks on a wall to make it appear as if the wall was crumbling. I am currently learning to advance my skills in manipulating images and digital matte painting in Photoshop, so drawing the cracks and making them look real was an issue for me. I searched through tutorials on tons of websites until I found two sites that really helped me a lot:  Lunacore, and My Ink Blog,.

Lunacore’s version shows how to make a crack from scratch. Just find a good image to draw cracks on, or use the image provided. It is really easy and all it involves is a pencil tool, masking, and a change in the blending mode.

My Ink Blog’s version is a bit different. They show you how to play with the lighting effects, different clouds, channels, and how to import an image with cracks and blend it with the texture. This tutorial is more advanced than Lunacore’s, but pretty easy nonetheless. Thanks to these tutorials, I was able to create a poster to my liking.

If you are trying to pick up some Photoshop techniques, then I encourage you to read these tutorials and practice them when you have time.
